![]() ![]() One way to instantly increase the game’s longevity is to add something like a Forge mode. Like in Destiny, players could pick one of these roles at the start of the story, sticking with one Helghast class and making their abilities stronger as the campaign progresses.Īs for multiplayer, the most important thing that Bungie can do is strive to make the game replayable, as the nearly dead state of Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer is a shame to see. The flamethrower-using Pyro Troopers would also be fun to use. The melee-focused Shock Troopers, Cloak-using Snipers, and the jetpack using Air Trooper are all possible classes. Throughout the Killzone series, players fought against various types of Helghast, and Bungie could give players those abilities in the campaign. Fighting against the ISA while controlling the far more interesting Helghast would be a nice change of pace, and it would allow Bungie to use the faction’s more unique abilities. The villains of the Killzone franchise were always the real victims, as despite being portrayed as Space Nazis, the ISA treated them horribly. Likely to be more comparable to Halo through some traditional singleplayer and multiplayer modes, one thing that Bungie could do to make a new Killzone memorable is deliver a Helghast-focused campaign. As such, while it would be strange to see Bungie taking control of an IP that was once viewed as competition, it is hard not to think of all that could be done with a Bungie-led Killzone reboot. RELATED: Destiny 2 Witch Queen Collector's Editions Arrive Early, Theories Begin The Case for Bungie To Revive KillzoneĪ more prominent attempt at a Halo killer, Killzone was seen as being the more successful of Sony’s two PS3-era shooters. Outposts on par with the iconic Tower could give gamers an area to relax, collect bounties, and meet other players, gearing up to go fight the Chimera once again. Players could make their own soldier, collecting unique outfit pieces and emotes as they play through some constantly evolving content. It is even easy to imagine Destiny’s character customization translating well to a new Resistance game. Bungie could make full use of the PS5’s DualSense controller, too, making its already stellar gunplay feel even better. The human weapons such as the Magnum were very by the books, so expanding the lineup with several different weapons and special variants of them would be great. While guns like the Bullseye were exceptions, most of the series’ Arsenal never stood out in the way that Halo’s Needler or Destiny’s Exotics do. A co-op campaign like Resistance 2 could be a genuine possibility, with Bungie also making use of Resistance: Fall of Man’s Arena multiplayer for a Crucible-like offering.īungie taking a Destiny-like approach with the Resistance series could see far more interesting weapons introduced. It is easy to imagine Strikes against large Chimera enemies, while patrolling ruined 1950s cities like New York and San Francisco could be unforgettable. One strength of Resistance being revived under Bungie is that it would perfectly fit the mold of a Destiny-style game. Further, Bungie’s deep lore for all the races in the Destiny series would guarantee that the Chimera are a more interesting threat than ever before. Given how satisfying it is to shoot aliens like the Hive and the Fallen in the Destiny games, Bungie would likely ensure that the Chimera feel great to fight against. RELATED: Bungie's Streaming Platform Could've Shaken Things Up Before Sony Buyout The Case for Bungie To Revive ResistanceĪssuming that Insomniac Games’ mystery multiplayer project is not Resistance, it would be nice to see a new take on the Chimera from Bungie. As such, several years from now it would be nice to see Bungie take a shot at reviving one of these series, bringing its smooth gunplay and unique mechanics to either IP. While both series were strong and had their merits, they have since gone dormant. For years, Sony tried to keep up with Microsoft by offering an alternative to Halo, pushing two FPS franchises in Killzone and Resistance. Plenty has been said about the Bungie deal and Sony’s purchase of the company, and for good reason. Now, it is busy expanding Destiny 2 and building what could be a successful new franchise under Sony’s roof. Responsible for the most beloved entries in the Halo series, the developer then went on to change the game with Destiny, a unique blend between a looter-shooter and MMO. P>The impact Bungie has had on the first-person shooter genre cannot be understated. ![]() The Kelly Criterion is a formula to determine the proper size of a bet with known odds and a definite payout. The Kelly Criterion Bet Calculator Practical Application of the Kelly Criterion To Betting Strategies We automatically calculate your ideal bet size with the Kelly Criterion and your assumptions. Any adjustments you want to make to be conservative.Neither the casino nor the other gamblers need to know how much you’re hiding in your pockets or wallet. On this page you'll find a Kelly Criterion Bet Calculator. One last bit of advice: don’t ever advertise how much money you have on you. You’ll have to weigh the risk of possibly running out of money on a trip with the risk your willing to take of carrying X amount of money. You can enter in the length of session or trip you plan on taking, as well as the game you’ll be playing, and it will tell you the risk of running out of money for various trip bankroll sizes. If you want to calculate how much to bring with you with greater accuracy, I would recommend using the “Trip Bank” feature on CVCX to help you calculate how much money to bring. So if you find yourself with $500, and you’re betting strategy says to bet $100, you’ll have to actually bet $70, so you have 6 bets to back it up. But it is always more important to perfectly follow your playing strategy than to bet more money. You will have many chances to get your money back. The running count just jumped up to 30! Surely I should put even a larger bet out to win my money back?” No, padawan. I know what you’re thinking: “But Colin, I just doubled down on a $100 bet, and I only have $500 left. The reason being, you need to be prepared to split and double down multiple times. So if you bet $100, make sure you have another $600 to back it up. So how about deciding how much money to be betting when you start losing, and the money left in your trip bankroll is getting smaller and smaller as the session goes on? An important rule is to always keep 6 bets to back up any bet you place. If you don’t feel comfortable carrying that much extra money “just in case”, then you can bring less, but I’d rather have too much on me than not enough. That might sound like overkill, but I’ve had sessions where I’ve been in for that many bets or more. So if your betting unit is $100, then I’d bring $10K. A decent rule of thumb is to bring at least 100 betting units (for a 4 hour session). That being said, here’s my advice: Keep in mind that it kind of depends on how long you plan on playing, as well as the variance of the game you’ll be playing. But then again, I’m willing to take the risk of traveling with extra cash on me. So I’d lean more towards bringing more than you’ll need than not enough. You don’t want to leave early, or even worse: be in the middle of a positive shoe and run out of money! Especially if you flew into a town or had to drive a ways to get to the casino. However, I’d say one of the worst things that can happen is finding yourself under-funded at the casino. But does that mean you should bring all that money to the casino for each session? Probably not. ![]() But then again, never starting your card counting career is also a risk. But, you’ll have to be patient, aggressive, have a perfect game, and you may need to be willing to take on a little more risk. While a $20,000 initial stake would be great, that’s not our story, nor is it realistic for many people. ![]() We weren’t worried about backoffs, and would play a 1-20 bet spread or higher, always playing the table minimum below a true 1 and leaving the table at a true -1. Our risk of ruin (the odds of losing our entire blackjack bankroll) would give most card counters (not including Ben) severe hypertension. I estimate that I was generating about $5/hr to 7/hr for the first couple months, but we were growing something so it didn’t matter! But we worked our tails off to get perfect at blackjack. Ben started with $800.ĭid we start with a perfect game? Doubtful. though I don’t think I ever bought in past my first $1,000 stake. And while many professional card counters are quick to say, “I wouldn’t bother getting into card counting with less than $20,000,” I cannot give you that same answer. I’ll give you a neat, clean, mathy answer about it in a minute, but honestly it’s complicated. For the most accurate temperature reading, place your device away from any heating or cooling sources (such as windows). Note: It can take up to 45 minutes to calibrate the temperature sensor. Add the temperature sensor to a new or existing smart home group, and then you can ask Alexa for the temperature of the room your device is in. The other option is for Alexa to say something… which wouldn’t help if you’re not at home.Īfter you set up your Echo, go to the Smart Home section of the Alexa app to find the temperature sensor. Other options include if the temperature inside the house hits a certain temp, you can get a weather forecast, or play the news. I was hoping I could set the Echo to text or email me if the temp in my house drops below a certain level so if my furnace ever shut off in the winter I could keep everything from freezing, but the closest I can get is to have Alexa send me a notification inside the Alexa app. When it comes to routines around the temperature sensor, they seem kind of… disappointing. (You’ll need to wait until about an hour after set-up to try this feature.) You can also just get a reading by saying, “Alexa, what’s the temperature in here?” Amazon says this is so you can create temperature-related routines. New to this device as far as I can tell is a built in temperature sensor. To hear for yourself, check out the review video, above. The Echo gives good clear dialogue and integrates seamlessly by the way with my TV. The all new Amazon Echo 4th gen definitely sounds better than my old Echo Plus it’s crisper and clearer, and sounds less tinny and small. I also used it to play music and podcasts plus audio books. Primarily I hooked it up to an Amazon Fire TV Cube and used it as a TV speaker in my kitchen. I played a variety of content on the all new Amazon Echo 4th gen speaker. The Echo Studio by comparison is a big, premium speaker that sounds awesome, so I’m interested to see where the 4th gen Echo fits in. The older Echo Plus speaker quality was just fine for a speaker its size, but I know Amazon has made improvements since that was released a few years ago. The most current Echo devices living in my home are the 2nd gen Echo Plus and the Echo Studio. Log into or sign up for an account in the Alexa app, and your Echo will do the rest, popping up the set up sequence for you. Getting Echo devices set up is extremely easy. The other new element in the Echo is improved speaker quality and audio performance. An LED light ring at the base of the sphere that reflects off of surfaces adds to the cool modern look, and the controls are now more visible across the top. With a fabric wrap (100% post-consumer recycled fabric, 100% recycled die- cast aluminum, and 50% post-consumer recycled plastic) around most of the outside, it looks a little softer and a bit less techy. Happily, he does in scenes ranging from mournful silences to unexpected harassment by a jerky, stereotypical American in a park. Performances are fine in general (even if Bean’s hair leaves a few questions hanging in the air), but Sabongui is given the chance toe excel with a damaged character. Adding to the sluggishness is the reality that viewers already know the connection well before it gets confirmed. A fellow mom, Stephanie, shares: “My parenting skills would grow as my child grew. It’s a humbling pill to swallow, but watching your kid grow is a constant reminder of how much we as adults are constantly growing, too. In fact, one of the more effective methods of parenting is trying to discover the world with them - expanding your own horizons - rather than exclusively imparting them with the small lens you’ve been looking through. Kids are obviously a work in progress - but then again, so are we. Ta-da! Parenthood done.īut if you go about it this way, you’re missing the point (and a lot of fun). And in that limited line of thought, it can be easy to assume that your job as a parent is to take this clay in the form of a baby, and mold it into the kind of adult you see fit - you know, one with good table manners and a marketable degree. Toddling around with mashed avocado on their face, or echolocating in muffled monosyllables, it’s like they’re an entirely different species.
